Confidentiality and Control

WorkScore gives you full control over your WorkScore and significant influence over its content. WorkScore also lets you review your workplace. Your workplace review is confidential; the results are public.

Confidentiality

  • Your WorkScore is confidential. Nobody can see it unless you share it with them using the Shared WorkScores page..
  • Your ratings are confidential. If you serve as a reference for a colleague, we ask you to rate their skills,  verify their achievements, and answer other questions about their capabilities. These ratings are confidential but not anonymous (the person knows that you are rating them even if they cannot see your evaluation).
  • Commendations are private but not confidential. These letters visible to the person you commend. Letters of recommendation or thanks give employers a sense of the work a person has done that has earned the recognition and appreciation of others. They are not a useful way to describe weaknesses or mistakes.
  • Your review of your workplace or your CEO is confidential and anonymous. Your workplace review is like your vote -- once submitted, nobody can see it again -- not even you. We calculate a Workplace Score from your reviews and we make the Workplace Score public once there are three reviews. There is no writing and nothing about this score identifies you. You can write a public message to your CEO or to any other CEO. We don't identify you, but you are free to identify yourself.
  • Your participation in WorkScore is confidential. Your co-workers or managers have no visibility into your activity on WorkScore unless you add them as a reference.

Control

  • Only references contribute to your WorkScore. You can add anyone who knows your work and has an email account as a reference. References can also add references, just as they do when employers call them. Employers receive the name, title, and phone number of your references. If someone lists you as a reference, they are also listed as a reference for you.
  • You can delete references, achievements, commendations, strengths, and areas for improvement, so long as you leave at least ten of each.  So long as you have ten, you can delete any that are duplicative, badly written, inaccurate, or weak.
  • You decide how much a each weight to give each reference. You do not see the ratings your references give you, but you determine how much each reference counts. References from people you indicate are objective and knowledgeable count more.

  • You control access to your WorkScore. Share it with people who can create opportunities for you or help you improve your skills.
